When I open 3Dconnexion preferences the overall speed slider does nothing, the mapping drop down menu only works in the radial menus tab but I don't know how to use it and under the Tools tab it says No Device Found with no firmware shown. I have also started up in safe mode but no difference. I uninstalled dropbox and tried again but no difference. After that it would only show for a second then close. I did notice the when I logged into another account on the mac the first time I tried to run the trainer the icon bounced for a few seconds then a login dialog for dropbox popped up, I closed it then the trainer icon disappeared. I am running MagicPrefs which adds functionality to the magic mouse so I uninstalled it but that didn't help. I have tried uninstalling then installing a couple of times plus installing the last archived driver. The pairing app seems to work correctly but when I start the trainer the icon appears in the taskbar for a second then disappears. I have tried it with fusion 360, google earth and the demos that installed with the driver and still no 3d navigation. It currently only controls the curser direction, pushing down is a mouse click and rotating will scroll a webpage. I followed the instructions to connect it wirelessly then download and install the drivers (10.5.0). I am trying to use it on a late 2013 model iMac 27 inch. There are 4 things that constitute MagicPrefs on your drive that you need to remove (this is done by moving them to the trash with the Finder or any other file manager or with unix commands via Terminal.app):ġ- the application itself typically /Applications/MagicPrefs.app (you need to quit it first if it is running, for your convenience it quits itself if you remove its pref pane)Ģ- the preference pane of the application ~/Library/PreferencePanes/MagicPrefs.prefPane (you can also delete it directly from System Preferences by clicking "Remove MagicPrefs Preference Pane")ģ- the support directory that typically includes installed plugins under ~/Library/Application Support/MagicPrefs/ (since the files in this directory are loaded by the application they also can not be deleted if it is running)Ĥ- plists of the application at ~/Library/Preferences/, ~/Library/Preferences/.plist and ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ am trying to get a new Spacemouse wireless working for the first time. Why do i get "Update Error! An error occurred while downloading the update. Why do the actions for expose spaces etc have a different behavior than shortcuts ? Why does the dashboard action not dismiss it when shown ? What information do i need to send for a bug report ? Why do i get a "No Shortcut Enabled For Switch Space." message What does the "Your operating system is missing the X keyboard shortcut" message exactly mean ? What does the "Found X applications which could impact functionality" message exactly mean ? The acceleration curve of the mouse is bothering me, can't it be changed ? I am left handed, is MagicPrefs for right hand usage only ?ĭo i have to keep my fingers exactly as shown in the hover images ? How can i to add X shortcut that is already assigned to something in OSX ? Why did my left clicks stopped working after i overridden the "Two finger click" gesture ? I have multiple magic mice, which will work with MagicPrefs ?Ĭan MagicPrefs have any impact on the battery usage ? I can not click anymore, how do i regain control of my mouse ? Why are PPC machines not supported anymore ? What exactly does "potentially hard to use mean" ? How do i assign this X action in OSX to a gesture ? Will this or that feature be added to MagicPrefs? What features will be removed from MagicPrefs ? What features will be added to MagicPrefs ?

“The computer center.”Įva half-smiled and pulled a strand of hair from the corner of her mouth. “Where are we going?”Įva kept her eyes ahead. I moved close to Eva and spoke up over the noise of the engine and chopping water. With the blue sky above us, it was easy to forget where we were. Bouncing over the surface, with mist coating my face, I felt like we were finally making our escape. I’d never been in a speedboat before, and it was a rush. She guided the boat out of the shallow water, turned it, and we sped off across the lake. We climbed aboard, and Eva started the engine. Hidden in a thicket of bushes was a boat. Eventually, we reached a clearing and walked to the edge of the water. Eva ducked off the path, and we slowly made our way through the underbrush, moving parallel to the shore. In the distance, I could make out the tops of trees. I was close behind, and within minutes we reached the shore of a large lake. Eva darted down a small path into the trees. I wished I’d had more time to breathe it in. Only this time, I smelled water - not the stinking, contaminated water of New San Fracisco Bay, which now had more pop cans, syringes, and rotten corpses than fish - but the clear, pristine liquid mirror of an alpine lake. She opened it, and I found myself stepping back into paradise.Īgain, my sense of smell overloaded with the fragrances of grass and trees. Eva increased the pace until we reached a door marked 28-A-41. We moved quickly, and every so often, we’d pass a door with a number or letter code stenciled on it. Regardless, I followed Eva out the door and into a long, featureless hallway that looked like an extension of the stairwell. ‘em.” Now, however, I was the one in the dark, and I didn’t much like it. My motto has always been “What they don’t know won’t hurt It was a ploy I’d used many times, making people think you know what you’re doing when you’re actually baffled and completely at a loss. Of course, she could have been utilizing the old confidence smoke screen. At this point, I had no choice but to follow her, but she did seem to know where she was going. Eva closed the door behind us and took the flight up.Īt the top of the stairs, Eva opened the first door we reached. Beyond was a stairwell, with plain walls and metal handrails. She held the door open and motioned for me to enter. Inserting the card into a slot just under the door handle, she grasped the handle and turned it. To the left was a door marked Authorized Personnel Only.Įva walked to the door and pulled out the card she’d taken from the Chameleon. On the right were men’s and women’s restrooms. Directly across from us was a doorway leading to a checkin area. Eva and I stepped out of the elevator into a neat, sterile foyer. The computer informed me that this was the “Aquatic Level,” featuring representative microcosms of the Pacific, Atlantic, Caribbean, and Mediterranean, as well as various bodies of fresh water. Seconds later, we reached level twenty-eight, section A. For information on camping and hiking, go to the checkin area.” Zoological Gardens and Yellowstone National Park. The elevator stopped at level twenty-nine, and the men exited to the accompaniment of the computer voice: “Level twenty-nine. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see the men ogling Eva.įortunately, their ogling was cut short. I probably didn’t have anything to worry about. Not wanting to invite conversation, I focused on the level display. For information on tee times or holo-sim sporting events, go to the checkin area.” Two young men stepped inside, and we exchanged the customary greetings. A computer voice piped up: “Level thirty-one. The door slid open just as I put my hands behind me and leaned against the wall. I had the uniform, but still no bracelet. Breath of the Wild is outstandingly polished, and that extends to every aspect of its map and enemies. That feels like negative progress.īut I’ve also spent time reflecting on Breath of the Wild and just how good its open world is - largely in comparison to Genshin Impact. In Genshin, I feel like I’m building toward something, whereas every time Zelda gave me a cool weapon that once belonged to a great Zora, it broke within an hour. But as I play Genshin, I’ve realized it has more to do with Zelda’s lack of RPG systems. For years, I’ve believed that I didn’t like the open world, directionless nature of Breath of the Wild. My time with Genshin Impact has actually changed how I feel about Breath of the Wild, and made me examine what does and doesn’t work for me. Revisiting 2017’s most beloved gameĭiluc chats with a blacksmith Image: Mihoyo via YouTube It’s another body to equip gear on and level up, versus that small increase to my stamina or health every few Shrines in Breath of the Wild.Īs I run various dungeons and fight big bosses in Genshin - switching between my four chosen party members mid-combat - I can really feel the difference that every piece of gear makes. I get so excited to pull that lever a few times a day.Įvery new character is a new project for me to work on. As someone who doesn’t play gacha games, and doesn’t gamble, it’s a rush. But sometimes I’ll get an epic weapon, or even a new character to play as. Most of the time, I’ll get some garbage weapon, which I’ll dismantle to improve my characters. Genshin operates on a gacha model, meaning that I can spend in-game or paid currency to open a horde of loot boxes. Instead, I can just find better weapons or a Master Sword that still breaks, while picking up four static abilities from the game’s Divine Beasts. In Breath of the Wild, I can improve my armor, but my weapons never get any better, and I never get new gadgets after the initial Sheikah Slate upgrades. Genshin has a story, but I complete every mission not to see what happens next, but to incrementally improve my favorite characters. It’s a game about managing currencies, and there are dozens. In Genshin Impact, I have so many systems to deal with.Įvery item I pick up is a potential currency that I can use to improve one of my dozen characters, or use to upgrade their weapons, or unlock new abilities. Genshin Impact is RPG vomit, and it rules Genshin Impact has clicked hard for me because I’m always working to improve my characters, whereas Breath of the Wild lost me after I took down Calamity Ganon. Where Zelda focuses on a basic progression path - with tiny improvements to your health and stamina - Genshin is loot-based, RPG soup, with more progression mechanics than I can count. It’s free-to-play with a gacha business model and multiple playable characters. Hell, it even has a glider.īut Genshin Impact differentiates itself in a few key ways. It has open fires to cook food that heals you and grants buffs. It has fantasy monsters that drop parts of themselves when they die. It also has a stamina system, which you upgrade by collecting objects from environmental puzzles. It’s cartoony (though much more anime-inspired than Zelda), it’s open-world, and you can climb everything. As soon as you have teleported your units with the FROZEN Chronosphere move your Chrono Legionnaire, unfreezing the building. You need to be Libia in order to have this vehicle, and need water in your map. The cost together is $5200! For a triple nuke thats cheap enough. Now then lets arm the vehicle! Make your crazy ivan put a bomb on 1 of the demo trucks. Now quickly put that demo truck into the hovercraft before it explodes. Do the same with the rest of the demo trucks. They will not explode till you command the hovercraft to unload its transport! Now drive to your enemy base with your hovercraft, and command them to get out! It can destroy every single building/unit depending on how far away the building/unit is from the bomb. Only if it is commanded to unload its transport!īuild five or six demolition trucks. Make sure you have a fully charged Iron Curtain. Send the Trucks into an enemy base, before they come in range of their weapons, cast the Iron Curtain on them. They'll be invincable until they reach their target, at which point they'll still explode even with the Curtain on. Want to have some fun with the enemy player? Charge up the Cronosphere and use it on the enemy unit, then drop it in the water. Watch the war miner go down to the bottom! Bye bye. Also try it on ships and drop them on land. Killing an entire infantry group is fun since infantry can die under the effects of the Chronosphere. Make 10-12 Yuris and place them all around your base. Luckily, Union City itself manages to keep you engaged as it continually opens up to you. So it’s so far, so standard in terms of the gameplay. Union City might seem like an ideal metropolis on the surface, but that’s far from the case. Works like a charm! The hacker tool is perhaps relied upon a bit too much as a problem-solving crutch, if I’m being honest, but it doesn’t negate the need for you to work out the puzzle yourself first. There’s no other way to do it discreetly than to switch its function with a nearby vacuum bot. One scenario, for instance, requires you to change the posture of a bionic arm in order to call someone over. It essentially acts as your way to swap chips between different robot types, changing their function in the process. If you’ve exhausted all dialogue options and every interactable object and still aren’t getting anywhere, nine times out of ten the hacker tool will hold the solution. Such a mechanic prevents your progress from ever coming to a complete standstill, and was a touch I came to use and appreciate more than once. If it gets too much just access a hint, of which many are available. Picture the scene: you’re trying to get from one area of a museum to the other (as the plot demands) but you can’t work out how to do so. Beyond a Steel Sky never suffers that problem, however, mainly due to a built-in hint system that can be accessed from the menu at any time. After all, it’s extremely hard to have fun or feel as smart as the game needs you to be when you’ve seemingly tried every avenue using the tools around you. Many adventure games fall down by making their puzzles and conundrums too obscure. Solving certain puzzles requires you to negotiate key items from the characters you meet. This means a lot of your time is spent engaging in conversations with characters, using the correct item from your inventory to solve puzzles, and employing your hacking device to make the technology around you suit the current situation. As Foster, you must visit the various pre-determined areas that make up Union City in the hopes of finding Milo, all while unravelling a potentially more sinister plot. That said, no pre-existing knowledge of 1994’s game is required to enjoy Beyond a Steel Sky to its fullest. At almost every turn you’re reminded that Foster has been to this place before that legacy of the original Beneath a Steel Sky serving as a constant reminder of how Union City used to look and feel prior to an AI takeover. In many ways, it shouldn’t be surprising at all. It says a lot, though, that Revolution Software has made Union City (and its surrounding areas) feel like a real place, one that you’re guided through linearly but still given several opportunities to dig deeper into. Does it present you with a vast open world to explore, brimming with sectioned-off hubs and several side stories? Not really. One of the most striking things about Beyond a Steel Sky is just how fully formed its location is. When we first meet Robert, he’s roaming a desert landscape known in-universe as “The Gap”. True, the perspective may have changed and visuals updated, but this is still very much a classic, puzzle-solving adventure with a good story, now available to enjoy on Nintendo Switch. That word, “mystery”, is important for old-school adventure games of this ilk, and it’s one of the main ways Beyond a Steel Sky pays respect to the point-and-click stylings of its predecessor, while modernising most other aspects. Little did Robert Foster know, however, that by venturing out of The Gap and returning to the commanding heights of Union City-now an outwardly extravagant Utopia full of opportunity-that he’d soon get swept up in a much deeper mystery. It was supposed to be a simple job: get the kid, get out of the city, then return him home. Given all this complexity, we’d like to ask for your help with an experiment. And this is definitely applicable to chocolate Our Request, Experiment and Suggestion For more on this see the work done by Professor Tim Spector (an avid craft chocolate fan and subscriber) on identical twins where he shows how the way we react to different foods is primarily a question of our gut’s microbiome. Differences Between PeopleĪs if this complexity isn’t enough, it turns out that different people react differently to the same bars and compounds. For example different roasting profiles and fermentation approaches will impact the concentration (and efficacy) of tryptophan.

And one of Hercules on a carnelian ring was recently estimated to fetch $120,000-$180,000 at Christie’s New York.Īlso, be aware that in the world of buying ancient artifacts, there are forgeries-both stonesĪnd rings can be forged. A carnelian ring carved with Alexander the Great in the guise of Hercules, his head draped in a lion’s skin, was sold by Bonhams in London for £55,200. Portraits and mythological tableaux fetch a higher price. Christies London sold a black jasper intaglio of a huntsman leaning on his staff, with a dog, for £1,188 last year. For this reason, many ancient rings are much smaller that we would require. You see, in Roman times, rings tended to be below the second knuckle, unlike how we wear them, above the second knuckle joint. Keep in mind that if you want to invest in a ring to wear, you must really try it on first. There are even unmounted stones that you can purchase and have mounted in a setting created by your own jewelry designer. There are a surprisingly number of them available through specialist jewelers and auction houses. Harder gemstones were later used to aide the craftsman in cutting more precise detail into the stones that would last.īelieve it or not, you can invest in and enjoy ancient intaglio rings today. Seals were used in the Ancient Near East from about 3400BC for over three thousand years, with primarily softer gemstones being used. Their origin can be traced to the Sumerian period in Mesopotamia. At that point in history, there was no such thing as a written signature. Although many were worn and collected simply as mementos, in ancient Rome they were often used as signet rings, with businessmen and political leaders with enormous power and wealth using them to sign documents by transferring their impression into a hot dripping of wax. Unlike the technique of carving cameos, which creates a bas-relief image sitting above a flat background, intaglio carves the image into the stone, below the flat surface. Starting from 5000BC right up to modern times, gemstones with images carved into them by artisans, then mounted onto finger rings, have been are among the most highly desirable treasures to own and wear. It took Ford only six months from the original computer designs to the finished show car. Only two examples were built, of which only one was actually functional. The Ford Indigo is a concept car developed by Ford for the 1996 auto show circuit and designed by Claude Lobo. Only a total of 275 units out of the planned 350 units were produced during its lifespan. The engine was mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. However, Group B was dissolved due to strict emission regulations, and Jaguar’s V12 was replaced by a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 and the all-wheel drive system was dropped in favor of a lighter rear-wheel drive system. The XJ220 was developed from Jaguar’s V12 powered all-wheel drive Group B concept that was designed to compete with the Porsche 959 and Ferrari F40. Its name, XJ220, is a reference to the top speed that Jaguar targeted. The XJ220 was the world’s fastest production car at the time. On 31 March 1998, the McLaren F1 set the Guinness World Record for the world’s fastest production car, reaching 240.1 mph (386.4 km/h). The British car magazine AutoCar stated during a road test in 1994 that “The McLaren F1 is the finest driving machine yet built for the public road” and that “The F1 will be remembered as one of the great events in the history of the car, and it may possibly be the fastest production road car the world will ever see.” It was powered by a 6.1 liter BMW sourced S70/2 V12 engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The car was notable for the drivers’ seat being placed in the centre with two passenger seats on each side, making it a three-seater.
